KEY OBJECTIVE: Under limited supervision, primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties may include but are not limited to: a.

Solicits new and renewal submissions from brokersb.

Determines terms and conditions and complex rating plansc.

Binds coveraged.

Documents the underwriting filese.

Handles more complex files and portfolios within underwriting authority D.

SCOPE Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions.

Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.

Risk Assessment.

Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls.

Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis.

Ability to analyze claims and quantify losses.

Financial proficiency.

Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis.

Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets.

Ability to understand credit risk.

Actuarial fundamentals.

Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking.

Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods.

Marketing and Communications.

Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company.

Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately.

Ability to base communications on strategic thinking.

Ability to manage producer strategy.

Systems and programs.

Allstate was founded in 1931 and became a publicly traded company in 1993.  Allstate Insurance Company has an exceptional career opportunity for a Field Property Claim Service Adjuster in the Bowie, MD area.  As a Property Claims Adjuster, you will be working from your residential office and will be responsible for evaluating and estimating homeowner small to moderate property damage, which will require travel to sites where the damage is located.  Laptop computer technology is used to complete estimates.  You will be documenting claim activity on a laptop and following processes that provide fair settlements or claim resolutions, customer satisfaction, and excellent cost management.   Use of your personal automobile that is capable of carrying a folding ladder, will be required to travel to and from your onsite inspections.  Use of your personal auto for business mileage will be reimbursed at IRS prevailing rates.  Incumbent must be able to maneuver and climb a 40lb folding ladder.   The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and must have at least 3+ years of Field Property Claims handling experience through an insurance carrier.  Construction and customer service experience is a plus.  Candidates that have a State of Delaware and/or West Virginia Adjuster's license would be a plus.  Candidates should possess the ability to manage relationships in a fast paced environment, while demonstrating persistence and problem solving skills.  The ability to work under pressure and strong customer service skills will allow you to succeed in this role.  This candidate may be required to work some evenings or weekends.   Computer proficiency required with Word, Excel, Outlook.  Computer estimating skills using Xactimate, MSB, etc., is a plus.  Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.   Since this is a field position, candidates are required to have their valid driver's license and use of a working vehicle.
