REQUIREMENTS
POSITION SUMMARY
The Health Unit Coordinator attends the nursing station, performs clerical and reception duties, and requests supplies, equipment and services as directed. Performs clerical duties for patient admissions, discharges and transfers. Maintains Census Activity Worksheet and other pertinent records. Checks patient charts for completeness. Obtains patient records/documents as requested. Processes physician and other healthcare team orders. Transfers orders to appropriate forms/departments/personnel. Answers patient call lights and in-coming telephone calls. Directs calls to appropriate personnel. Communicates floor bed status with hospital staff.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational Requirements:§ HS/GED
Experience Requirements: § Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
License/Registration/Certification:· BCLS certification.· Health Unit Coordinator certification preferred.
