The hospital has garnered widespread recognition for its expertise and breakthrough developments in the treatment of cancer, diabetes, asthma, HIV, premature babies, and cardiogenic and attention-related disorders.No third party considerations will be accepted at this time.  Vendors please do not call HR directly to solicit.Overview:Perform routine and specialized ultrasound exams for interpretation.  Responsible for patient care (obstetrical and gynecological patients), appropriate documentation, quality control, quality improvement and maintaining a safe environment.Responsibilities:Provide ultrasound guidance during procedures (genetic amniocentesis, transvaginal and transcervical chorion villus biopsy and multifetal reduction; provide surgical ultrasound guidance for prenatal patients undergoing surgeries related to conditions such as: Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (laser ablation of placental anastomoses); Acardiac Twinnning (radiofrequency ablation of the blood flow to the acardiac fetus); Bladder Outlet Obstruction (shunt placement); Pleural Effusions (shunt placement); Fetal Anemia (intrauterine transfusions); clinic ultrasound support consists of first trimester screening for chromosomal anomalies, transvaginal assessment of cervical length, basic ultrasound, comprehensive ultrasound, middle cerebral artery peak velocity, doppler screening for fetal anemia and umbilical cord and ductus venosus, dopplers in cases of twin-twin transfusion and intrauterine growth restriction; provide ultrasound (basic and comprehensive) coverage to nearby hospital inpatient units on prenatal patients admitted; operate, maintain and inspect specialized ultrasound-imaging equipment; monitor examination and evaluate quality and consistency of images; record and store images; prepare examination reports for physician; order and maintain supplies and equipment; perform quality control checks for patients; perform patient care functions; promote positive communication; assist other technologists with technical concerns regarding special ultrasound exams; perform or assist others in performing scheduled equipment maintenance and/or troubleshooting equipment problems.Knowledge and Skills:Broad knowledge of ultrasound physics and procedures with the ability to operate: required equipment (including troubleshooting); automatic processor; copying/digitizing film equipment; R.I.S. and PACS related equipment.  Knowledge of basic life support and medical terminology.  Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and positive guest relations; promote positive interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications and relationships; maintain confidentiality; demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills; operate basic office equipment; and demonstrate (preferably) bilingual skills.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent with formal training in a school of medical ultrasound.  Five (5) years of obstetrical/MFM scanning experience required.  Two years (2) of maternal fetal medicine scanning experience preferred.  Certification by the Texas Department of Health/Bureau of Radiation Control is a plus.  Registered by ARRT  and Nuchal Translucency certification (in addition to being RDMS certified. .
