Job Summary: Under general direction, provide engineering skills to assist in designing innovative and cost effective solutions requiring cable.
Development or sustaining of new or improved cable designs.
Assist in planning, conducting and evaluating approaches to meeting the project objectives in a timely fashion.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Design Electro-Opto-Mechanical Cables suitable for a Down-hole Environment or Oceanographic ApplicationsSupervise cable manufacturing for prototype cables construction and sustain cable manufacturingRecommend best materials selection and construction lay-out for new cables and implement them in the prototype constructionAnalyze, design, develop, maintain products and assist in their commercialization -in agreement with project technical and timing objectives.
Successfully undertake technical projects.
Assist in identifying and organizing cable requirements.
Apply usability procedures and principles as defined at the project or product-line level or through customer input.
Provide timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issues.
Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifacts.
Ensure commitments are agreed upon, reviewed and met. Author/co-author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations.
Share expertise via Eureka and SIGs and expand the informal network throughout the organization: field, research, engineering, manufacturing, other domains and clients.
Maintain familiarity with Company technology, organization and business.
Understand and provide technical solutions according to the client strategy.
Report to Sr. Design Engineer and Department ManagerMinimum REQUIREMENTS: BS in Electrical Engineering, MS is a plus.
10+ years experience in Product R & D and/or Manufacturing Have a good working knowledge of Fiber Optics, specifically in testing optical fibers in the telecom industry.
Knowledge and understanding of transmission lines such as coaxial cables and twisted pair cables -shielded and unshielded.
Have a good mechanical aptitude.
Have a good mathematical back ground with practical applications.
Electromagnetic Modeling experience is a plus.
Have some practical knowledge of polymer chemistry.
Strong trouble shooting skillAbility to work with all levels of staff.
Good knowledge of project management processes.
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal are required.
