FIREFIGHTER&PARAMEDICThe Palos Heights Fire Protection District, Palos Heights, Illinois is testing for the position of Firefighter&Paramedic. Applications will be available from 8&00 a.m. to 4&00 p.m., Monday through Friday, between November 16, 2009, through and including Monday, November 30, 2009, (excluding weekends & holidays) at the Palos Heights Fire Protection District Office located at 12300 S. Harlem Avenue, Palos Heights, Illinois. Completed applications must be filed at the District Office no later than 4&00 p.m. on November 30, 2009. Applicant must appear in person and supply proper identification to file the completed application. Applications are limited to one per person. POSITION REQUIREMENTS& Applicant must be 21 years of age by December 7, 2009 and less than 35 years of age on December 7, 2009. Applicant must have at least Firefighter II certification at time of application and a Paramedic Certificate by December 15, 2009. Applicant is required to meet visual acuity standards with corrected vision of 20&20 and be free from color blindness. Applicant is required to meet the medical standards adopted by the NFPA. Graduation from high school (Diploma) or evidence of a G.E.D. equivalence diploma. Applicant must possess a valid driver's license both at the time of the application and at the time of appointment. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States for a period of one year prior to date of examination. Applicant must have a valid CPAT card by February 1, 2010. Any candidate appointed would be granted six months after probationary period to establish residency within the District's boundaries. Upon receiving a conditional offer of hire, all candidates will be subject to and must pass a complete medical examination including comprehensive drug testing before appointment. A mandatory orientation will be held at 7&00 p.m. on December 7, 2009.
