There are plenty of programs that result in a certificate or associates degree and last two years or less, so you can get started quickly. However, you want to make sure you choose a good program since most states require you to pass both written and clinical exams in order to get licensed for this job.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean hourly wage is $32.19, with the top ten percent of hygienists making over $43.98 per hour and the bottom ten percent of hygienists making less than $21.24 per hour. A lot of factors influence the salary you will get, including the amount of training and experience you have, where you live, and the type of office you work in.
